Our reasoning for choosing our practitioner

The practitioner we chose for our performance was Konstantin Stanislavski, we believe that due to the play covering realistic situations that using naturalism would bring the storyline justice. We believed that the method created by Stanislavski labelled "The system" would be highly effective in helping with characterization and portraying a convincing performance in 'A Doll's House'.

Stanislavski was one of the most influential theatre practitioners in modern theatre. He is an advocate for naturalism and believes to have a successful performance as an actor you have to inhabit your character and think as though they are them. He is most famous for the invention of the system and how he shaped theatre forever.

'A Doll's House' is a very emotive play that displays the inner emotions of women that weren't allowed to be expressed during the late 1870s when this play was set. By using emotional memory I should be able to convey using my past emotions what it feels like to incapsulate all emotion to not let it find an outlet.
